  • Given the current state of the American education, many people would remain confused. In the recent past, the policies that have made in-roads into the education system have baffled most of the students and the teachers. However, some are for it and some are against it. therefore, this makes the situation graver.

For many people, America is still the land of dreams and opportunity. While illegal immigrants do find something to do here, their kids are going to suffer. In recent times, the government announced that while the students whose parents were illegal immigrants or who had migrated from other countries, could study here but cannot seek a job. This enraged many students who felt cheated. Some stated that they believed they had wasted so many years of their life studying here and now it was all a waste due to their nationalities. Some said that although they considered America their home, it was never think of them as its citizens.

What was more appalling was that they would now see American students with whom they were at par, get better jobs and them just staggering behind. One student stated that she did not know what brought about this decision but by securing a job here, she thought, working in America, she would be giving back something to the country that she called her second home.

A recent poll conducted stated that most of the Latin Americans believed that continuing education was the best way for their children. At least ninety four percent of them felt that they wanted to send their kids to college. But it is only getting tougher. There is now a new rule that states that children who come into America before the age of 16 and lived here for at least five years, need to work with the military for two years or join the college.

But then this is not possible with every immigrant coming into the country. Which means if the child is already sixteen and has not stayed in the country for five years, they will not be allowed education? How is anyone going to be educated anyways then? If America wants to educate only the regular American children, then this is going to be a difficult proposition.

The government should realise that although there are these other people seeking shelter in the country, at the end of the day they will be working towards the interest of the economy only. Such students along with the regular American students, when they get jobs, make money for the country that is America. If half the population in America remains uneducated due to such policies then America will be falling into the category of a third world nation.

Therefore, something needs to be worked upon very soon. Corrective measures should be taken to solve issues regarding the education system. Education is a fundamental right and one should not forget that.
