  • Higher Education is an industry that is swelling in size. Already busy classrooms are still accommodating extra students, anyone who applies is welcomed on campuses and institutions are put to test even as resources are strained to the limit.

As our country falls in line with our President’s call to become achieve the goal of most number of college graduates by the year 2020, there are many challenges to be met. As we force our academia to scale en masse, higher education must brace for challenges that go beyond traditional funding and curriculum.

Our economy is greatly weakened now and this has placed severe budgetary limitations that will not allow just for construction new buildings and hiring the best staff. To ensure that they scale in a proper manner, institutions are forced to make do with less to achieve more. Many vital concerns are being addressed by colleges and universities through technological solution implementation.

In order to combine the latest technological developments with traditional course experiences, institutions maximize available resources through blending of learning solutions. Increasing pains are in store for campuses however the most critical of them being ensuring student success.

Existing resources are can be maximized by combining blended learning solutions. This is because they combine well with the latest technology developments and course experience.
Higher education institutions however will be forced to face many challenges such as maintaining the standard of coursework, physical overcrowding and ensuring success of students.

A popular blended learning solution is lecture capture. Lectures are captured through the student’s in-seat perspective and catalogued for later reference to emulate traditional classroom experience. This is a wonderful method that is very much in demand as it sets free seats for students and prevents overcrowding of classrooms.

Lecture capture also minimizes other ancillary issues such as erroneous class discussions, campus foot traffic and parking. To meet success standards even as campus continues to scale, supplementary support must be provided to at-risk students.

Universities may actually increase office hours for professors or provide additional staff for study centers to ensure there is no compromise of curriculum to pass grades. Through lecture capture, it is however possible for hybrid as well as in-class students to repeatedly view material virtually with the help of the playback options. This prepares them optimally for tests and ensures improved retention without taxing resources.

During the process of admission scaling, one of the most difficult challenges is to enhance classroom success and student graduation. There are numerous options for institutions today to face this challenge head on and lecture capture is one of the most success oriented programs that definitely offers more return on investment and ensures qualitative and quantitative results.

During these tough times with institutions struggling to make ends meet, it is imperative to ensure that students do not suffer. Technologies such as lecture capture provide enough flexibility for universities to face the challenges that are bound to arise.

We may actually be on the right track and very soon we may actually regain our status as being the most educated nation in the world.
