  • Description:
  • Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at City of Hope where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is looking for a talented Postdoctoral Fellow.

The Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at City of Hope is pioneering the development of neural stem cell (NSC) and extracellular vesicle (EV)-based therapies for neurodegenerative conditions, including traumatic brain injury (TBI), chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment (CRCI), and age-associated cognitive decline. As part of our translational research mission, we have established a new focus on automated, home-cage behavioral phenotyping using the TSE IntelliCage system. This platform enables high-throughput, longitudinal assessment of cognition, memory, and social behaviors in group-housed rodents, providing an unbiased and scalable approach to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of NSC and EV interventions. The integration of IntelliCage-derived behavioral data with molecular, histopathological, and omics-based outcomes positions our lab at the forefront of systems-level preclinical neuroscience aimed at restoring brain function through regenerative therapeutics.

As a successful candidate, you will:

    • Implement and validate IntelliCage protocols to assess cognition, memory, and social behavior post-injury and post-treatment.
    • Evaluate therapeutic efficacy of NSC- and EV-based interventions in rodent models using group-housed, automated behavior testing.
    • Integrate behavioral data with histopathological, molecular, and multi-omics readouts.
    • Develop standardized phenotyping pipelines and train other lab members on IntelliCage operations.
    • Lead behavioral studies using IntelliCage to assess functional outcomes.
    • Establish and optimize injury paradigms (e.g., TBI, CRCI) and therapeutic timelines.
    • Collaborate on multi-modal data analysis and interpretation.
    • Contribute to high-impact manuscript preparation and grant submissions.

    Your qualifications should include:

    • PhD in Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, Pharmacology, or related field.
    • Hands-on experience with rodent behavioral testing and injury models.
    • Experience setting up and analyzing IntelliCage or similar systems.
    • Strong publication record in behavioral neuroscience or neurotherapeutics.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Familiarity with regenerative therapies, NSCs, and EV biology.
