Principal Investigator, Shelly Lu, MD is the Director of the Karsh Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Co-Director of the Digestive Diseases Research Center, and is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to join her team.
The Lu Laboratory research program focuses on investigating molecular mechanisms of fatty liver disease, liver injury, primary and metastatic liver cancers. To learn more about this research specialty, please visit the Lu Lab website.
Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist, the Postdoctoral Scientist will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. The incumbent may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. This position analyzes and interprets data, and may assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. This position is not responsible for generating grant funds.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs and performs experiments.
- Maintains appropriate experimental records, documentation, and analyzes the results with the Principal Investigator.
- Analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.
- Performs laboratory procedures including cell culture and animal models, throughout the training period.
- Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
- May observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject interactions as it pertains directly to research being performed.
Department-Specific Duties:
- Performs experiments involving animals.
- Performs experiments utilizing basic and advanced cell culture, molecular biology, and immunohistochemistry techniques.
- Performs research and develops novel bioinformatics tools, and conducts integrative analyses of biological, medical, and genomic data.
- Learns new tools such mass spectrometry and PTM proteomics, spatial proteomics and metabolomics, and their analyses. Use these tools to provide novel insights on the pathogenesis of various liver diseases.
