    Job Description:
    APPOINTMENT: The School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration is seeking to fill a nine-month tenure-track position. The position is offered on the Macomb, Illinois campus, with a starting date of August 2019.


    The successful applicant will be required to teach Law Enforcement and Justice Administration undergraduate or graduate courses as assigned, although teaching responsibilities for this position will concentrate on security administration and management, organizational risks & loss prevention. Successful applicants could also be assigned to teach and develop courses that concern special topics, involving policing, management and security. Applicants should also demonstrate an understanding of the application of technology to enhance learning. Other duties may be assigned as required by the Director of LEJA. Unit A faculty must also engage in ongoing scholarship and service to the university to satisfy retention and promotion requirements (see ).

    This position requires full attendance at all classes in a traditional face-to-face classroom format. While opportunities to develop and conduct hybrid or online courses exist for the successful applicant, this solicitation/position is not for online instruction or distance learning.

    RANK & SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, however starting salary is based upon the academic year and is constrained by the terms of an agreement with the University Professionals of Illinois, Local 4100 (see Agreement.pdf ).

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., Juris Doctor, etc.); and a minimum of five years practical experience with a criminal justice agency (such as law enforcement, corrections, or juvenile justice, prosecutor's office) is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of three years teaching criminal justice courses, or courses in a closely related field, at an institution of higher learning is preferred.

    For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).
