  • The Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University is seeking a Program Chair to join our School and lead the Bachelor of Science in Accounting program. The individual will be required to perform three essential School functions: student engagement, program management, and teaching. There will also be other responsibilities as outlined by the School but these are the three key areas of the position. The Accounting Undergraduate Program Chair is a full-time position within the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business that has full management oversight of the Undergraduate Accounting Degree program, which includes teaching and administrative responsibilities.

    Committed to a students’ first philosophy, the Program Chair must be able to assist in the development and execution of a strategic plan for the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business to maximize students’ academic success and graduates’ career success. This position is located on our Main Campus in Waterbury, CT.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master's Degree required with professional designations in the field of accounting such as CPA, CMA, or EA (Doctoral degree preferred)
    Exceptional time-management & organizational skills
    At least five years of experience working in the field or accounting.
    Experience teaching in the traditional classroom and online using Blackboard or similar programs.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    The ability to perform scholarly activities as appropriate when warranted or requested.
    Ability to be flexible, adaptable, well organized and a team player in a fast paced work environment.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    General Academic Program Requirements:

    Teach 6-8 courses per academic year or as otherwise determined by the Director of Undergraduate Programs or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
    Participate in at least two university committees or as otherwise determined by the Director of Undergraduate Programs or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
    Reports directly to the Director of Undergraduate Business Programs within the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
    Work with a team of Program Chairs and university staff to maintain and develop the program and curricula.
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

    Oversee assigned courses, monitor Associate Faculty for teaching consistency, and ensure quality instruction.
    Assist in the effort to grow enrollment in the program through high school, community college, local business and professional organization visits. They will also assist in insuring admission reps and advisors are familiar with the accounting program.
    Develop new courses, programs and participate in course redevelopment and redesign.
    Advise students on coursework and careers
    Create and oversee internship opportunities
    Review and update current course structure and content. Courses should be updated to reflect current laws, regulations and practices.
    Insure LMS and third party systems are working effectively and efficiently in the undergraduate accounting program where utilized.
    Review and update the curriculum as needed.
    Assists in determining classroom equipment and instructional staffing needs
    Communicates performance expectations to instructional staff, monitors performance (including conducting classroom observations), analyzes key performance indicators, provides coaching and feedback, evaluates performance and recommends corrective actions. Facilitates faculty concern resolution.
    Mentor/evaluate/supervise new Associate Faculty
    Assist in developing Associate Faculty training modules/sessions
    Work on accreditation projects (when applicable)
    Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of educational process. Provide academic and failure advising to students and documents in student information system. Take appropriate action in regard to student behavioral issues. Assist with new student orientation and student concern resolution.
    Work with local community to promote Post University.
    Utilize professional expertise to assist local non-profit organizations.
    Attend and participate in regular School & University meetings
    Other projects and/or administrative duties as determined.
    REQUIREMENTS:

    Skilled in recruiting, interviewing and hiring new employees. Experience in supervising employees with ability to assign work, train employees, and conduct job performance reviews. Able to foster a positive and productive work environment with ability to lead, build teams and motivate staff.
    Experience in presenting material to all levels of employees or students. Possess strong interpersonal skills such as: the ability to build cooperative relationships by being perceptive of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do, selling or influencing others-convincing others to change their minds or actions, and the ability to utilize different methods and mediums to deliver course material.
    Proven educational or administrative experience in solving complex problems for individuals or teams. Experience with analyzing and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of options and exercise critical thinking, problem solving, and judgment skills.
    Strong work ethic, timely and accurately organize, prioritize and complete all job responsibilities.
    Proven record of multi-tasking and ability to handle a high pressure environment with significant timeline pressures.
    Past history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
    Post University seeks Scholarly Practitioners for all faculty positions, which means we seek individuals with Terminal Degrees (whenever possible), and with 10 years or more of experience in the field of study. In addition, we prefer to hire individuals who have proven track records in teaching (preferred online and on-ground) and learning.
