    A motivated, enthusiastic and team-oriented candidate will perform experimental laboratory research in the division of Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan Medical School. Research in the lab uses cell culture and rodent models to study the mechanisms of intestinal fibrosis and anti-fibrotic drug development.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in the following laboratory techniques:

    He/she will be responsible for carrying out in vitro and in vivo studies in models of intestinal fibrosis under the direction of senior laboratory staff and will work both independently and in a team environment on collection of data and analysis of research results
    He/she will help develop, design, and conduct research projects, will participate in formulating research methods and suggest options for improving quality and recommending solution
    He/she will be responsible for maintaining mice and/or rat colonies
    He/she will be responsible for maintaining mammalian cell culture lines
    He/she will be expected to perform RNA and protein isolation, PCR, QPCR, cloning, western blots, etc.
    Required Qualifications*
    A Bachelor's degree in biology or related health science field and 1-2 years of experience required. Demonstrated ability to execute the duties described is desired. The candidate must be willing to work with laboratory rodents including handling and surgical manipulations. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment is essential.

    Desired Qualifications*
    Working with live tissue, biopsy samples, histological sample preparation, RNA/DNA isolation, qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence techniques are considered a plus.
