Job Summary
The University of Michigan Health Information Technology and Service (HITS) Administrative Applications team is seeking a Business Systems Analyst - Intermediate to join our team. The Administrative Applications team selects, integrates, and supports the vendor applications needed by Michigan Medicine and the University of Michigan Medical School to realize the mission of providing the highest quality in medical education, research, and patient care.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of business systems analysts, project managers & other technical professionals to deliver and maintain a healthy portfolio of enterprise applications. You will identify issues, propose solutions, and communicate risks directly with technical management or other responsible entities to ensure a fully integrated solution across multiple work streams.

Responsibilities*
Develop strong understanding of Michigan Medicine applications and how they facilitate business.
Perform analysis, evaluate and document current-state business processes, workflows, and end-user needs by conducting interviews, requirement reviews, and design sessions with the team, stakeholders, vendors, and other required IT entities.
Adhere to defined healthy application and quality assurance standards, breakdown complex application configurations into detailed specifications and provide expert-level assistance in trouble-shooting application issues.
Support product life cycle through continuous assessment and evaluation of product and service features within the context of business needs and identify opportunities for business optimization through technology.
Maintain a strong adherence to quality assurance through the design and implementation of industry best-practice unit, integration, and acceptance testing techniques.
Maintain product documentation and provide end-user training in a clear and effective manner to ensure proper usage of systems and tools for end-users and system administrators.
Perform product support using high-level problem-solving techniques to identify issues and takes corrective action steps to resolve.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
2-3 years of professional experience
Desired Qualifications*
BA/BS degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
2-3 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Application Analyst, Computer Systems Engineer, or related role.
Competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
Ability to manage and engage with multiple stakeholders across different business units to drive consensus and gather requirements effectively.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capacity.
Knowledge of ITIL framework for managing IT services, with a focus on incident, problem, and change management.
Strong knowledge of product life-cycle management including feature definition and prioritization, roadmap planning, release strategies, and growth and maturity management.
Familiarity with modern SAAS platforms such as ServiceNow and Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate).
Familiarity with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and experience participating in or leading Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.).
Expertise in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, including conducting usability testing, developing wireframes, and understanding human-centered design principles.
Knowledge of business process automation, including automating workflows using tools like Power Automate or ServiceNow.
