  • General Description of the Position
    Division of Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science (PEMaCS) - Mathematical Sciences at Delaware State University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or related fields with preference to Data Science. The Mathematical Sciences Program offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Mathematics with Data Analysis, and Mathematics Education; master’s degrees in mathematics; and PhD in Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics. Delaware State University (DSU), a historically black university with a diverse faculty and student body, has a student population of approximately 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students. DSU is located in Dover, Delaware.

    Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Essential Functions
    The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
    1. Teach (on campus) graduate and undergraduate data science courses, as well mathematics courses.
    2. Actively apply for external funding for research and educational activities.
    3. Advise graduate and undergraduate students
    4. Maintain an active research agenda that engages students.
    5. Serve the Department, College, and University on Committees and in other roles

    Qualification Standards
    1. Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.
    2. Evidence of the ability to effectively teach students of varying abilities.
    3. Evidence of the ability to effectively conduct research and write grants.
    4. Experience with student diversity.
