  • Position Overview

    The Curriculum and Learner Management System (LMS) Operations Administrator (Administrative Associate 1, 8208A1) is a 1.0 FTE employee at the Multidisciplinary Institute for Child Welfare (MICW). The University of Minnesota’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) established the MN Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) in partnership with the MN Department of Children, Youth, and Family (DCYF), a new collaborative that focuses on creating impactful, inclusive, and accessible training opportunities to meet the needs of the many MN child welfare workers and agencies.

    This position supports the curriculum and LMS teams in the collaboration between DCYF and the University. The curriculum and LMS administrator is responsible for managing and coordinating cross-functional team tasks related to course development, maintaining compliance with accessibility standards, course timelines, troubleshooting, administrative tasks, and overall curriculum quality to enhance the learner experience. In addition, the curriculum and LMS operations administrator provides support in the establishment and ongoing operations of the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy.

    This position will formally report to the Operations Manager in MICW and will receive task supervision from the LMS Supervisor and Curriculum Supervisor at the MNCWTA. The person hired for this role will be located off campus at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy in Roseville, two miles north of the St. Paul Campus. A hybrid work schedule is required (3 days on-site, 2 days remote); the position also reports to the MNCWTA Co-Director and will be located off campus at the MNCWTA, two miles north of the St. Paul Campus.

    Job Responsibilities

    Learner Management System (LMS) Support (40%)

    Oversee the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of courses within the LMS, ensuring smooth functionality.
    Work closely with instructional designers, faculty, IT teams, and curriculum developers to ensure course content meets learning objectives and institutional requirements.
    Manage and track course development timelines, ensuring all deliverables and project tasks are completed on schedule.
    Ensure all course materials meet ADA accessibility standards and best practices for universal design.
    Monitor and support grading workflows for learners.
    Troubleshoot issues related to learner assessments.
    Provide technical support to instructors and learners when needed.
    Curriculum Development Support (40%)

    Manage the process for curriculum update requests.
    Review any curriculum modifications to verify that all information is correct.
    Ensure that modifications align with the intended purpose
    Review for factual errors and consistency
    Connect to course competencies
    Document, track, and inform the Training and Delivery Lead and Curriculum Supervisor of any upcoming curriculum changes.
    Support Simulation Specialist with scheduling and collaboration with the Training Delivery Team
    Assist with Simulation setup/teardown including:
    Technology setup
    Schedule simulation training recordings
    Print handouts/packets
    Coordinate with M Sim at the University of Minnesota when needed.
    Operations (20%)

    Identify areas for streamlining operations and implementing best practices for LMS and curriculum workflows.
    Support the Curriculum and LMS Teams with administrative tasks to include:
    Scheduling sessions with Subject Matter Experts
    Review and organize curricula
    Provide copy edits when required
    Take meeting notes
    Provide project coordination
    Manage Google Drive files, resources, and access to include:
    Assist the curriculum and LMS teams in organizing and tracking files.
    Communicate any changes to the files and resources to the respective teams.
    Provide backup support for other administrative professionals in the MICW as needed.
    Attend monthly MNCWTA All Staff meetings.
    Attend MICW and SSW team meetings.
    Participate in weekly supervision.
    Participate in Curriculum and LMS team meetings.
    Participate in other meetings and/or activities as assigned.
    Qualifications
    Required Qualifications

    BA/BS degree with at least two years of related experience or a combination of education and related work experience equal to six years
    Demonstrated relational skills, involving collaboration, teamwork, and consultation
    Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, identities, and backgrounds
    Consistent communication skills, both written and verbal
    Experience working independently using strong organizational skills, including managing multiple tasks effectively and keeping track of deadlines
    Established commitment to diversity and cross-cultural communication
    Proven problem-solving skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience managing Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle).
    Strong project management and organizational skills.
    Knowledge of ADA compliance and accessibility best practices for digital learning.
    Public or tribal child welfare experience.
    Understanding of state/tribal social services.
