    Job Description Summary
    The University of South Alabama’s Student Health Services department is seeking to hire a Medical Assistant. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
    Essential Functions
    These are the job duties required of the position.
    Essential Functions
    Takes verbal and written order from the physician and responds accordingly.
    Conducts initial intake to include taking vital signs, height and weight.
    Pulls and accesses charts for completeness adn documents in Electronic Medical Record.
    Prepares exam room.
    Places patients in exam rooms and assists with lifting as required.
    Transports specimens to lab and conducts routine lab tests.
    Assists patients in wheelchairs are required.
    Performs EKG, draws blood samples, and obtains blood cultures.
    Cleans adn sticks exam rooms.
    Provides backup to front desk staff.
    Checks demographic information, prepares charts, answers and directs phone calls.
    Maintains medical records and other files.
    Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patietns, and family.
    Responds to pages and maintains accurate and complete records.
    Regular and prompt attendance.
    Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
    Related duties as required.
