The AACSB-accredited E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Department Chair for the D. Wyatt Henderson Department of Accounting, with an anticipated start date of August 2026. We seek a collaborative, conscientious, and strategic leader, with a demonstrated commitment to faculty and student success. This is a 9-month tenured faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, with additional summer responsibilities and administrative compensation.
Minimum qualifications include: A terminal degree (Ph.D. or DBA) in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution, a sustained record of scholarly research and publication in quality peer-reviewed journals and candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Preferred qualifications include: Prior administrative or leadership experience in an academic setting. Experience with curriculum development, accreditation processes, and faculty mentoring and Professional certification(s) such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent.
The Chair will maintain a 2-2 teaching load (all subdisciplines in accounting are encouraged to apply) and lead the department in the following areas:
· Providing academic and administrative leadership.
· Recruiting, mentoring, and evaluating faculty.
· Overseeing course scheduling and instructional quality.
· Managing departmental budgets and allocating faculty development resources.
· Leading curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation efforts.
· Addressing student concerns and supporting student success.
· Coordinating with the Accounting Advisory Board and external stakeholders.
· Representing the department within the college and university.
· Other duties as assigned by the Dean.

The D. Wyatt Henderson Department of Accounting includes ten full-time faculty members who are dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The department supports a chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, operates a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program that provides free tax preparation services to the community, and benefits from the guidance and engagement of an active Accounting Advisory Board that helps align academic offerings with industry needs.
