Job Description
The Office of Human Resources is seeking an HR Partner (HR Consultant 1 - MR09) to join our team. The HR Partner provides consultative services for recruitment, hiring, and benefits administration, and serves as a collaborator in other HR functional areas. The position serves as an campus advisor; prepares documentation to ensure policies and procedures are followed; interprets, applies, and advises on HR policies and procedures, and applicable federal and state laws; and assists with training activities in HR functional areas.
Responsibilities
Recruitment and Hiring
Provide guidance to search committees regarding search process, resources, and best practices
Post staff vacancies for assigned divisions, including limited duration appointments and search exemption requests
Research industry/discipline specific options for external recruitment, obtaining quotes and facilitating placement for any external advertising, as requested
Screen staff candidate pools based on posted minimum qualifications
Initiate background checks, review results, make hiring determination for any adverse results, and issue pre-adverse and final adverse communications for any adverse results
Confirm job offer details and issue appointment letters consistent with approved classification and compensation position details
DASH entry including: creation of pending employee record and transition to active employee in accordance with established payroll deadlines and ensuring completion of new employee onboarding requirements; employee transfers, including adding new assignment and ending current assignment in accordance with established payroll deadlines
Serve as IT liaison for resolving any NETID or access issues
Benefits Administration
Conduct new employee benefits orientation sessions to facilitate completion of insurance and retirement enrollments
Provide back-up support for creation of benefits enrollment tickets in HR ticketing system
Monitoring benefits enrollment deadlines
Respond to inquiries and conducting employee consultations for new employee insurance and retirement plan enrollments
Timely submission of retirement and insurance enrollments
Benefits Enrollment Changes Due to Qualifying Life Events (Marriage, Divorce, Birth, Loss of Coverage, etc.)
Planning and organizing Retirement Planning Sessions and Benefits Annual Enrollment sessions and communications
Conduct retirement consultations and processing insurance continuation and any associated retirement paperwork (i.e. Medicare, rehire of retirees, etc.)
Assist with Death Benefit Administration
HR Operations Support
Provide support to other HR team members, as needed during peak faculty and staff hiring seasons, and peak benefits, payroll and performance management seasons
Provide guidance and training to other HR team members, as needed
Collaborate on HR cross-functional projects and initiatives
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and customer service skills; strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail; good decision-making in responding to inquiries, complaints, etc., or referring to other HR staff as appropriate; ability to interpret, apply, and advise on HR policies and procedures, and applicable federal and state laws; ability to compose clear communications, some involving sensitive issues; ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience is higher education, and three or more years of HR experience is preferred.
