    Record of successful teaching in public schools; emphasis in general, elementary, and early childhood preferred.

    College teaching experience preferred.

    Strong research skills and interests in music education.

    Experience with teaching popular music, integrating music, and/or educational technology preferred.

    Skills in multiple elementary/early childhood methodologies.

    Duties/Expectations:

    Teaching:

    Teach undergraduate and graduate music education courses.

    Oversee adjunct professors who have responsibilities in early childhood and elementary general music, including the BYU Young Musicians Academy.

    Mentor and advise music education majors with elementary general music emphasis.

    Supervise student teachers.

    Advise and supervise graduate and undergraduate research projects.

    Serve as School of Music liaison with BYU School of Education, which includes the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts University Steering Committee.

    Scholarship/Creative Works:

    Pursue scholarly and creative endeavors which may include research and publication, presentation, scholarly research/creative works in accordance with the School of Music Rank and Status Document.

    Citizenship:

    Take an active role in the Music Education Division, including the recruitment/audition/review process of potential students and other responsibilities as assigned.

    Develop and maintain working relationships with area schools.

    Develop opportunities to serve in professional organizations and affiliations.

    Serve on school, college, and university committees as assigned.

    1) Two examples of (or links to) scholarly/creative work. Do not send your entire dissertation.

    2) Submit links to two videos of recent classroom teaching in different contexts (e.g., two different courses, age groups, online vs. in-person, etc.), each a minimum of 20 minutes in length.

    3) If applicant is currently teaching at a college/university, submit the last three years of institutional teaching/student ratings with the application.

    4) All materials must be received by the application deadline: September 15, 2025.
