Job Summary/Basic Function
Weber State University invites applications for the position of Development Director (specific job grade will depend on the applicant’s qualifications) for the Goddard School of Business & Economics. Weber State University is currently in the sixth year of a comprehensive fundraising campaign, and will move to the public phase in January 2026.
Reporting to the Campaign Director, the Development Director will work closely with Goddard School of Business & Economics leadership to enhance and support their fundraising efforts. They are responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and ongoing stewardship of prospects capable of gifts in excess of $35,000. All Development staff, including any new hires, are expected to work as a team toward ‘Big W’ objectives and goals while also having primary responsibility for major gift fundraising within their assigned college/division including arranging visits with individuals, corporations, foundations and the preparation of private funding proposals. This position is specifically responsible for expanding the Goddard School of Business & Economics donor base by forging new relationships with potential major gift donors. They are responsible for generating and tracking progress on a portfolio of 45 – 50 major gift prospects and soliciting them for gifts and pledges. The Development Director actively engages prospects in the portfolio and schedules approximately 165 significant contacts annually; to include 44 qualification contacts. In addition, the Development Director will be tasked to complete a minimum of 15 major gift solicitations annually.
Required Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in private fundraising, marketing, sales, communication, psychology, business management, or related fields
One year of experience in private fundraising

Master’s Degree
Strong oral communication, listening, writing, technology and interpersonal skills
An understanding of, commitment to, and ability to articulate the value of higher education both conceptually and as it relates to the local region
Experience working in higher education or non-profit setting
Experience working both independently and as part of a team in identifying and cultivating prospective donors and soliciting philanthropic support; including planned giving opportunities
Comprehensive campaign fund raising experience
History of interacting positively with a variety of internal and external constituencies
Track record of displaying integrity and the ability to keep confidences regarding personal information
Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform well under pressure in a metric driven organization
