    This is a 70% Research and 30% Lab management position.

    70% Research (10% Field work, 40% Lab experiments, and 20% data analysis and report writing):

    Field work includes collecting soil and water samples.

    Lab experiments include cultivating BSL2 pathogens, extracting DNA, running PCR, quantitative PCR, and digital PCR, and creating gene knockout mutants. Data analysis includes bioinformatics (sequence data analysis) and statistical analysis.

    30% Laboratory management:

    Order laboratory supplies, maintain lab equipment, organize lab notebooks and protocols, keep training records, implement lab safety protocols, etc.



    Qualifications
    Required:

    - Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or related fields, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years.
    - More than 1 year of experience working in a microbiology laboratory setting, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques (aseptic culture techniques, PCR, qPCR, etc.)
    - Have a valid US driver's license
    - Excellent communication skills

    Pay and Benefits
    Pay Range: $20-23/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience

    Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
