JOB PURPOSE:
The qualified candidate is expected to develop a productive, extramurally funded interdisciplinary research program in biochemistry and computing. The candidate is also expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and participate in teaching within the core MOLB/SoC Molecular Biology and computing curriculum and to perform service at the departmental/University level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct a nationally and internationally recognized research group
Obtain external funding to support research program
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses
Serve on university committees and participate in external scientific activities

WORK LOCATION:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate degree in an appropriate field and at least two years of postdoctoral research experience.
Research standing as demonstrated by number and quality of publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or other relevant research impact (e.g., peer-reviewed datasets, scientific software, or other complementary assessments of impact and influence).
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience and/or demonstrated potential to develop an externally funded research program in an area with potential for significant and sustained funding.
Interdisciplinary interests and/or experience that intersect and bridge multiple academic department/s.
Experience and interest in teaching, training, and/or mentoring students in relevant disciplines, including but not limited to computing, biochemistry, molecular, and cellular life sciences at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
