Description
The Program Manager II is responsible for administratively managing a large or complex University program or multiple programs. They provide input in the development of program plan and objectives with responsibility for achieving objectives within defined parameters. Typically supervises small staffs and are responsible for long range planning. Responsibilities include budgeting, networking/public relations, technical training and assistance, grant and report writing. May handle regulatory responsibilities, contract submissions and identify research funding. May handle event planning and oversight of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
Program Operations Administration
Provide daily administrative and operational leadership for a high-enrollment undergraduate academic program.
Manage course scheduling logistics and coordinate closely with the Program Director to ensure timely and accurate course offerings.
Maintain and update program materials and communications through learning management systems.
Oversee student organization support and fiscal operations, including the development of reports and data analyses.
Academic Program Operations
Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and assess programmatic goals.
Manage the logistical aspects of course ordering in partnership with the Program Director, resolving conflicts and optimizing offerings.
Maintain, update, and enforce program policies and procedures in alignment with university standards.
Serve as a primary point of contact for faculty, students, and external stakeholders regarding program-related inquiries and processes.
Effectively use institutional platforms (BlazerNET, GPS, Canvas, Zoom, Oracle, etc.) for scheduling, communication, and academic tracking.
Student Support Advising Coordination
Serve as a liaison between the Program Director and the SHP Office of Student Services, assisting with the coordination of admissions, academic advising, and retention strategies.
Support student success initiatives by collaborating with advisors, faculty, and administrative offices to streamline student services.
Assist in training and mentoring BMD Student Organization officers, offering year-round support in programming, leadership development, and event execution.
Data Analysis
Strategic Planning
Work with the Program Director to evaluate program and institutional data to identify trends, and to support long-term planning, and informed decision-making.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support compliance, reporting, and program evaluation.
Collaborate with program leadership to develop and assess programmatic goals, learning outcomes, and strategic initiatives.
Recruitment Onboarding Financial Administration Procurement
Perform monthly P-Card reconciliation in Oracle to ensure compliance with university financial policies and procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement Representation
Serve as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, academic advisors, and campus partners.
At the discretion of the Program Director, represent the program on various school and university committees, contributing to broader institutional initiatives.
Event Planning and Marketing
Work collaboratively with marketing and communications personnel to enhance program visibility and promote key initiatives.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee key program events, including graduation celebrations, welcome week activities, open houses, and other academic traditions.
Develop timelines, budgets, promotional materials, and logistics plans for all program-sponsored events.
Additional Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service to students, alumni, faculty, and UAB community partners.
Collaborate with the Program Director to support continuous innovation and collaboration to enhance program visibility, student engagement, and institutional alignment.
In cooperation with the Program Director, maintain currency in higher education best practices, academic program management, and student support trends through active involvement in professional development and associations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or School leadership.

Salary Range: $51,270 - $66,665
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
