  • Location:
  • waco , TX
  • Posting Date:

  • Description:
  • Baylor University is seeking a Senior Research Associate to support Dr. Byron Johnson by serving as both a stabilizer and builder— ensuring Baylor’s global impact is not just envisioned but realized. With the launch of the Institute for Global Human Flourishing, Baylor is expanding its reach and responsibility. At the same time, the Institute for Studies of Religion (ISR), a national leader in faith-based research, continues to grow and evolve under Johnson’s direction. The Senior Research Associate will act as a senior advisor and operational partner who can help build internal systems, manage relationships, synthesize research, and coordinate execution across both institutes— allowing Dr. Johnson to focus on high-leverage activities such as scholarship, fundraising, partnerships, and vision-setting.

A Doctoral degree and ten years of relevant work experience are required.

*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

This position is eligible for remote work, but will require frequent travel to campus.

    What You Will Do

Engage in cutting-edge research leading to peer-reviewed publications on the role of religion in public life and in fostering civil society
Help build a production-ready public engagement platform to transform the research findings of the Global Flourishing Study (GFS) into interactive, accessible experiences for non-academic audiences
Spanning 22 countries and six domains of human flourishing, GFS offers unprecedented insight into life’s Big Questions—yet much of its value remains locked in academic papers. In this way, the prospective hire will help to unlock and amplify the GFS findings by making them discoverable, understandable, and actionable by producing lay-friendly reports for policymakers, educators, nonprofit and corporate leaders, and citizens worldwide.
Give leadership to and help coordinate special research projects that ensure Baylor’s Christian mission is integrated thoughtfully into the culture, research products, and communication of the research
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
Ability to comply with university policies
    Maintain regular and punctual attendance
    What You Can Expect

As part of the Baylor family, eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous time off, tuition remission, and outstanding automatic retirement contributions. Baylor has a comprehensive benefits plan that supports you and your family’s wellbeing and allows you to be a part of the life of a vibrant and active college campus.
