School Psychology Internship Coordinator – Duties and Expectations
Instruction and Seminar Leadership
Teach the school psychology internship course.
Conduct an internship seminar before the start of internship placements.
Field Placement Oversight
Approve all internship placements prior to interns accepting offers.
Collaborate with district supervisors and other district leaders to ensure effective support for interns.
Conduct site visits for each intern and complete formal site visit reports.
Address concerns with placements or supervision in collaboration with interns, supervisors, and faculty; may include additional site visits as needed.
Supervisor Support and Stipends
Provide training and ongoing consultation for field-based supervisors.
Manage supervisor stipends in coordination with the department and district contacts.
Evaluation and Documentation
Ensure timely completion of supervisor evaluations for each intern and that interns complete evaluations of their supervisors and sites.
Manage the online platform for internship work portfolios (comprehensive exam) and support completion in collaboration with faculty.
Administrative Coordination
Coordinate the BYU Internship Office approval process for each intern.
Work with the Program Coordinator to ensure each intern has successfully completed their portfolio.
Coordinate with International Student Services to ensure compliance with employment requirements for international interns.
Program and Faculty Engagement
Attend school psychology faculty meetings.
Support broader program goals through collaboration with faculty, field supervisors, and university offices.
School Psychology Practicum Coordinator Responsibilities
Leadership in Practicum Placement Coordination
Serve as the primary coordinator for all school psychology practicum placements.
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with district leaders to secure high-quality, supportive placements aligned with program goals.
Manage all practicum placements and field supervisor assignments prior to the start of the academic year.
Collaborate with district and university stakeholders to ensure placements meet the developmental and training needs of each student.
Instruction and Student Preparation
Teach the school psychology practicum course.
Prepare practicum students for the PRAXIS exam.
Conduct an internship introduction seminar at the conclusion of the practicum year.
Support and Supervision
Conduct site visits for each practicum student and complete site visit reports.
Provide initial training and ongoing consultation for field-based supervisors.
Collaborate with students, supervisors, and faculty to address any concerns that arise during the practicum experience, including additional site visits as needed.
Evaluation and Compliance
Ensure timely completion of student evaluations each semester.
Oversee collection of student feedback on supervisors and placement sites.
Manage the online practicum work portfolio platform.
Coordinate with the CPSE office manager to ensure supervisor stipends are processed and paid accurately.
Program Engagement
Coordinate internship recruitment visits from interested school districts during practicum class.
Attend school psychology faculty meetings.
