  • Job Overview
    A Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Chelsie Brewer. The associate will have the opportunity to conduct basic and translationally relevant pain research in the Department of Anesthesiology. The Brewer laboratory currently focuses on the downstream effects of inflammation and injury on the pain-transmitting circuits of the nervous system, with a specific interest in knee osteoarthritis. This work involves electrophysiology, calcium imaging, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, neural circuit tracing, and behavioral analysis. The laboratory aims to use mouse models and human tissues in culture to determine how injury and disease affect the function and connectivity of peripheral and central neurons.


    This position is intended for individuals at all degree levels, who have a high level of competency in research, but may not have an independent research program.

    Essential Functions
    Rodent colony management, organization of laboratory SOPs, ordering supplies, etc.
    Training and/or supervision of colleagues.
    Assisting with the coordination of research studies.
    Making independent and collaborative contributions to projects and studies.
    Designing and conducting experiments.
    Analyzing data and communicating results through meetings, conferences, and manuscripts.
    Conduct experiments and analyze data in compliance with the policies and procedures of the University of Cincinnati.
    Required Education
    Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field.

    Required Experience
    In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
    May require experience with specialized software programs.
    Additional Qualifications Considered
    Experience with rodent models and culture systems.
    Mentoring/training experience.
