    You will manage and enhance the systems that power course waivers, admissions assessments, and support platforms to ensure a seamless and equitable experience for students and staff. This role blends UX and technical expertise with academic insight, enabling you to design systems that are both reliable and intuitive.

    You'll also lead and/or assist with other technical systems, handle occasional transactional ticket work, and use data to help leaders guide decisions. As a strategic partner and translator between technical and non-technical communities, you'll help shape technology solutions that advance the university's mission.

    The UMSI IT unit is designed to provide rapid services and data to internal stakeholders at the University of Michigan. The unit is responsible for all non-hardware infrastructure, such as educational technologies and data flows between University systems, 3rd parties tools, and collaboration with campus partners.     Responsibilities*
    Manage and maintain academic IT systems (e.g., course waivers, admissions assessments, intranet) to ensure reliability, accessibility, and continuous improvement.
    Serve as Product Owner, defining functional requirements, prioritizing enhancements, and guiding system development to improve the user experience for students, staff, and faculty.
    Supervise and coordinate temporary staff and support teams involved in system operations, ticket management, and workflow optimization.
    Collect, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources to provide actionable insights that inform decision-making and support institutional goals.
    Collaborate and communicate effectively across technical and academic units to align system functionality with user needs and advance innovation.
    Required Qualifications*
    Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    At least 2 years of prior experience as a Technical Product Owner, with demonstrated success managing technical platforms from vision through delivery.
    Experience managing or supporting assessment systems, Jira platforms, or other enterprise-level academic technologies.
    Proven ability to analyze and interpret large datasets, and to build clear, actionable reports for decision-making.
    Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences and build effective cross-unit partnerships.
    Demonstrated understanding of user experience (UX) principles and the ability to apply them in designing or guiding technology solutions.
