Job Summary
This Graduate Assistant position will work collaboratively on the Recruiting & Marketing team in the Auburn University Graduate School to support all 12 academic colleges in graduate student recruitment. The graduate assistant will be responsible for writing, creating and editing digital communications related to prospective student recruitment as well as supporting marketing and promotional material.
Responsibilities will include content development and implementation in a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software program used for email marketing campaigns related to recruitment and retention of graduate students. The Graduate Assistant will assist in the planning and execution of recruitment events as well as monitor and analyze attendance, conversion rates and ROI.
These recruitment event-related duties may include data entry, data management, registration and scheduling, and related administrative tasks. This position may also create and produce social media content related to recruitment campaigns or help develop strategies and promotions to enhance graduate recruitment. The GA will jointly report to both the Communications & Marketing Specialist and the Director of Graduate Recruiting, with a weekly team meeting and check-in.
This position requires 20 hours of work per week each semester, with summer semesters optional, but funding is available.
Works with the Recruiting and Marketing team to tell student, alumni and faculty stories, utilizing various mediums, that highlight their experiences with graduate education and research.
Coordinates with stakeholders to create content – both written and visual – highlighting the features and benefits of graduate programs. Uses existing web content to repurpose in graduate school digital marketing channels including the CRM, website and social media platforms.
Edits marketing messaging, photography, graphics, and video footage to create succinct, engaging digital content for use on the Graduate School website and social media, as well as in the CRM tool for email marketing for prospect and inquiry recruitment.
Assists with planning and execution of recruitment events both on and off campus to include vendor registration, scheduling, travel planning, and preparation of print and promotional recruitment packets.
Assists in maintaining CRM database of prospects and inquiries; Inputs prospect data from recruitment fairs and implements/adjusts campaign messaging accordingly.
Analyzes recruitment effort performance, conversion rates, and ROI to guide strategic planning of future recruitment efforts digitally and in-person.
Essential Functions
The Graduate Assistantship provides the student with an educational experience in which they apply specific skills such as functional knowledge and abilities of marketing communications, gained from their overall educational program, whereby: 1) greater than or equal to 60% of the student’s duties and responsibilities are directly related to the program of study, and 2) less than or equal to 25% of the student’s duties are responsibilities that are administrative/clerical in nature, i.e. data entry and data management.
This position will apply functional knowledge, skills, and abilities from the educational program that are related to the administration and coordination of business and marketing tasks as well as project planning and management. Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled graduate student at Auburn University
Academic background in communications, marketing, graphic design, or related field.
Admitted to a graduate degree-seeking or certificate program, classified as MST, EDS,PHD, GCRT, GND, or GPR.
Registered for at least one course (anything carrying an Auburn University course number) during each academic term of the assistantship.
Satisfy the minimum course load specifications of the individual departments and make
Satisfactory progress toward the degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Pursuing a graduate degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
Excellent copywriting, proofreading and editing skills
Experience editing photography, graphics, and/or video; Adobe Creative Cloud suite
Microsoft Office suite, strong MS Word & Excel skills
