    About this Position
    The Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach lower-division courses, including Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry I & II laboratory/lecture support (as needed), Physics, and Physical Science for non-majors. Candidates with a Master’s degree will be considered for lower-division teaching assignments. Applicants holding a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline may also be eligible to teach upper-division coursework based on departmental needs.

    Responsibilities

    Teach assigned undergraduate courses in Chemistry and/or Physical Science.
    Prepare and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, assessments, and laboratory activities (where applicable).
    Maintain consistent communication with students and provide timely feedback on assignments and exams.
    Hold office hours (virtual or in-person) for student support.
    Follow departmental and university guidelines regarding instruction, assessment, and academic policies.
    Collaborate with full-time faculty as needed to ensure instructional consistency across sections.
    Required Qualifications
    Master's
    Master's degree in chemistry, Chemistry Education, Physics, Physical Science, or a closely related field.
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
    Demonstrated ability to effectively teach at the undergraduate level.
    Demonstrated passion for teaching and student success
    Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Strong oral and written communication skills
    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
    Preferred Qualification
    Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline (required for teaching upper-division coursework).
    Prior college-level teaching experience.
    Experience teaching non-majors and/or introductory STEM courses.
    Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
    Demonstrated experience in facilitating the success of students from diverse backgrounds.
