Job Description:
UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional level Cloud Platform Systems Administrator interested in applying their technical expertise to fast-paced, customer-focused production support and development environments as part of the Infrastructure & Communication Technology team, a unit within UFIT. These environments run in a LEED certified data center housing several thousand servers and petabytes of storage.

As part of the Infrastructure & Communications Technology (ICT) unit, you will lead medium to large-sized projects and direct teams responsible for maintenance, installation, configuration, and deployment of advanced hardware and software systems. You and your team will participate in managing UF Data Centers and delivering hosted server, storage, virtualization, database, email or related systems. These systems connect University of Florida campuses and research sites to the world via high-speed data, video, WI-FI, telecommunications, and VoIP services.
This role provides opportunities to assist in architecting and designing advanced system solutions, defining enterprise standards, recommending new initiatives, and helping UFIT align with industry trends. You’ll also collaborate with managers and technical peers and serve as a vital mentor to junior colleagues.

Expected Salary:
$98,000 – $100,000; commensurate based on education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred:
The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:
Demonstrated expertise in:
Architecting, Planning, and Implementing projects in AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud providers.
Managing enterprise implementations of hypervisor systems including vSphere, vRealize Automation, and Omnissa Horizon VDI Desktops and Applications
Conducting performance analysis for both the hypervisor hosts and their guests in the areas of CPU, Memory, Network and I/O utilization
Troubleshooting ability to solve problems for a broad range of hardware, software, and applications.
Knowledge of/Experience with
Requirement's analysis, capacity planning, software development, and programming
Project and risk management methods and techniques
ITIL and IT Service Management (ITSM) (Change Management)
Microsoft Windows Server operating system installation and support procedures
Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) operating system installation and support procedures
Integration with authentication systems such as Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Kerberos, or Active Directory
Managing physical hardware such as HPE Synergy/ProLiant and Cisco UCS
Enterprise backup systems including Rubrik
Configuration management tools such as ansible, puppet, and chef
Orchestration tools such as Terraform
Scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell
Rest API scripting and automation
Source/version control platforms such as Gitlab, GitHub
Building automation pipelines using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
Creating and maintaining effective technical documentation
Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong ability to communicate goals /objectives and use active feedback to improve services
Ability to observe, detect, identify and resolve complex technical challenges and communicate resolutions in a clear, concise and complete manner
Ability to successfully work with various teams on large projects and maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UFIT services
