  • Primary Purpose of Position
    The Department of Nanoengineering, within the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T), seeks an assistant or associate professor with a brain health-related research program. The ideal candidate will apply nanotechnology approaches to study concussion-associated brain injury or brain-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and aging-associated dementia/declining neurocognitive.

    This position is part of a strategic cluster hire across the University with three separate hires in the Departments of Kinesiology, Psychology, and Nanoengineering, whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on brain health. The primary purpose of this position is to provide student-centered teaching and instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses while having an active research program that addresses issues related to brain health. The ideal candidate will have a background in Nanoengineering or related fields that enable them to have scientific skills to develop an innovative and collaborative research program that complements ongoing research at the JSNN and the College of Health and Human Sciences. This candidate will be expected to: (i) establish and sustain a strong externally funded research program in their field of expertise, individually and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary research cluster; (ii) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (iii) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in Nanoengineering courses; (iv) supervise and support students in research projects; and (v) provide service to the Department of Nanoengineering, the School, and University as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.

    This is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position. Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by the anticipated appointment date and an outstanding research record. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) at North Carolina A&T State University offers a master’s and Doctorate degree in Nanoengineering as well as post-baccalaureate certificate programs. The JSNN is housed in a state-of-the-art 105,000-square-foot facility, which provides researchers with the facilities needed to train students in cutting-edge nanotechnology-based research.
    Minimum Requirements
    Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by the anticipated appointment date and an outstanding research record. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
    Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
    Applicants who also have research experience or interests in one or more of the current department focus areas of nanomaterials and mechanics, nanobioelectronics, computational nanoengineering, nano energy, and nanotoxicity will receive the strongest consideration.

    Two years of postdoctoral experience preferred.
