JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Financial Budget Analyst assists the Director of Accounting with business and accounting operations. This position is responsible for the administration of Graduate Medical Education (GME) accounts, accounts receivable operations, gift fund accounts, University Health Services(UHS) research grants, and the management of facilities and space allocation.
Responsibilities
Ensures College of Medicine-Knoxville (COM-K) in adherence to UT fiscal policies governing financial transactions.
Reviews and authorizes the disbursements of funds related to financial transactions.
Prepares and initiates journal entries made monthly and at Year End to distribute UTMCK operating charges, reconcile rent paid by College of Medicine Knoxville departments, and monitor activity for changes and unusual activity.
Collaborates with Associate Dean of Finance and Administration to accurately and completely identify accounts receivable for each department.
Serves as subject matter expert for University Health Services activity and billing information, researching issues and identifying solutions as necessary.
Prepares monthly and as-needed analysis and reports of COM-K gift fund activity
Monitors departmental GME budgets, allocations, and probable spending; analyzes, justifies and prepares analysis of various GME operations as needed for decision-making purposes.
Prepares, initiates, and submits receivable contracts according to UT Fiscal Policy
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Master’s Degree preferred). (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in financial or business office; OR a combination of education and work experience to equal six (6) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general accounting principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with basic computer systems, computer spreadsheets, and the ability to utilize various software efficiently.
Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
Ability to provide accurate financial information for sponsored projects.
