    The Physical Therapist Assistant Clinical Coordinator/Instructor works in close collaboration with the Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director and the Dean of Health Sciences, to ensure a robust and relevant clinical experience for program students, including recruiting new clinical sites and fostering existing clinical relationships, to ensure the program has a sufficient number of clinical sites to meet enrollment. This position will also provide clinical and didactic instruction, customer service, data support, and documentation services in accordance with state and college regulations as well as external accreditation standards. The full-time faculty member is afforded some administrative release time to carry out clinical coordinator duties.

    Duties/Functions
    Administrative Duties
    Orienting Physical Therapist Assistant clinical faculty on approved evaluation instruments that document student clinical progress and achievement of required competencies as well as other college policies and processes
    Organizing and participating in new student orientation regarding clinical expectations
    Assisting the Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director in hiring and selecting new Physical Therapist Assistant clinical faculty
    Functioning as a liaison between the Physical Therapist Assistant program and employees of the cooperating clinical agencies/sites
    Conducting clinical faculty meetings regularly to ensure consistency in instruction
    Ensuring accurate and complete documentation of all clinical experience and competencies

    Education Required
    Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or an Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant with a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
    Holds an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA license in North Carolina
    Education Preferred
    Master’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy or health-related field.
    Completion of the American Physical Therapy Association Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program.
    Physical Therapist: American Physical Therapy Association Specialist Certification
    Physical Therapist Assistant: American Physical Therapy Association’s PTA Advanced Proficiency Pathways Certification
    Experience Required
    Three years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience as a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant
    Teaching and/or hospital-based instruction experience in Physical Therapy topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
    Demonstrated experience in clinical education through service as a clinical instructor, site coordinator of clinical education, student mentor, faculty member, or other relevant clinical education activities.
    Experience Preferred
    Greater than three years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience as a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant
    Post-secondary teaching experience
    Experience working with patients with neurological conditions in acute care, skilled nursing, and/or inpatient rehabilitation
    Experience with a community college physical therapist assistant program.
    Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
    Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
