  • Job Summary
    The Lead PeopleSoft DBA works with all stakeholders from technical and functional units to deploy, implement and maintain Enterprise PeopleSoft application systems (PS) and Oracle databases (DBA). The main purpose is to oversee PS and DBA system and architecture configuration; performing PS and DBA patching procedures while providing support to direct staff; assigning resources to support PS and DBA technology roadmaps for PS systems (HCM; FMS; IH; CS) and related DBA support for ancillary systems like CTRLM, Hyperion, PHIRE, and OBIA databases.
    Minimum Education and Experience
    Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience or associate’s degree and 6 years of related experience or high school diploma and 8 years of related experience.
    Preferred Education and Experience
    Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience or associate’s degree and 8 years of related experience or high school diploma and 10 years of related experience.

    2 years Supervisory experience
    Comprehensive PeopleSoft Administration: 10+ years extensive experience as a PeopleSoft Backend Administrator (version 9.0+) on an on-premise Linux platform, including installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across multiple PeopleSoft products and PeopleTools versions
    Technical Architecture & Infrastructure: Proficient in designing, developing, and maintaining technical architecture and distributed processing environments to support PeopleSoft implementations, including Internet Architecture, WebLogic, Tuxedo, and batch servers
    Integration & Security Expertise: Skilled in PeopleSoft messaging, integration tools (IB, API, FTP), certificate management, authentication, load balancing, encryption, and system security, ensuring robust and secure PeopleSoft environments
    Advanced System Management: Experienced in capacity planning, system cloning, container technologies, search and insights tools, and evaluation/implementation of new PeopleSoft functionalities, with proven ability to debug complex infrastructure and application issues
    Extensive Oracle Database Administration: 10+ years’ experience as an Oracle DBA (Oracle 11g/12c/19c) on an on-premise Linux platform
    Replication, Migration & Backup: Deep expertise in Oracle database replication (GoldenGuard), migrations, upgrades, backup and recovery (RMAN), and database auditing, with strong skills in automation (scripting, backup, monitoring) and monitoring (OEM, custom, third-party tools)
    Performance & Capacity Planning: Proficient in capacity and performance planning, tuning at both database and O/S layers (memory, CPU, network, storage), and optimizing Oracle databases on VMWare for high throughput
    Development & ETL Processes: Experienced in Oracle development (SQL, PL/SQL), ETL/ELT processes (API, SQL*Loader, External Tables), and implementing/managing Oracle databases for ancillary systems (OBIA, ODV, Hyperion, PHIRE, CTRLM)
    Holistic Technical Leadership & Innovation: Demonstrates strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills, excels in guiding and managing PSDBA team efforts, and champions automation, artificial intelligence, and data-driven solutions (including AI coaching, log analysis, and data visualization). Brings expertise in higher education business practices, technical tool evaluation, and collaboration across all organizational levels to foster continuous improvement and operational excellence

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Essential Functions:
    Contribute expertise and execution of assigned Team Lead tasks including:
    Develop, manage and collaborate on standard practices and processes within the PeopleSoft Administration and DBA (PSDBA) framework
    Mentor other PS Administrators and DBAs; building a sense of community within the team
    Actively promote the value of PeopleSoft and Oracle DB administration throughout the organization
    Prepare periodic reports on project status, progress, risks, deadlines and resource requirements for specific track
    Support project objectives by leveraging project management methodologies
    Provide direction, support and feedback within the PSDBA team
    Perform team lead duties including scheduling, reporting to management, supervising, delegating and prioritizing workloads
    Resolve issues within and across teams
    Provide recommendations for process/procedure improvements
    Leverage technology to help reduce manual tasks and continually improve processes
    Build and maintain lasting relationships with all technical and business stakeholders
    Contribute independent subject matter expertise and execution of assigned including:
    Incident management and resolution
    Request fulfillment
    Problem management root cause analysis
    Assisting with review and analysis of workload and future demand for PSDBA team
    Planning and monitoring system state and exception metrics
    Improving and altering business and technical processes
    Creating, improving and managing automation platforms and processes
    Ongoing analysis of PSDBA system state and services
    Development of detailed deployment, validation and QA plans to ensure positive product deployment
    Collaborate and share knowledge including:
    Demonstrating functionality and expertise to educate internal team and relevant stakeholders as necessary
    Documenting and sharing tools, tips and knowledge within and across teams
    Provide content/develop communication to stakeholders as necessary
    Posting and reviewing internal documentation for PSDBA team
    Develop requirements for documentation of technical customizations and/or third-party integrations from Pillar and/or campus as related to PSDBA tasks
    Other duties as assigned

    Location can be Fort Worth, TX or Richardson, TX.
    Hybrid remote work environment available. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment.
    Must have the ability to be on Richardson campus within 48 hours of notice.
