Florida: Lawsuit Over Education

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit saying state officials in Florida were failing to ensure that students in Palm Beach County get a good education, as evidenced by their poor rates of graduation. The suit, filed in state court in West Palm Beach, names Gov. Charlie Crist, the Board of Education and several political leaders and says they are violating a requirement in the Florida Constitution to provide a “uniform, efficient, safe, secure and high quality” education.
