  • Location: The laboratory is based in the Department of Physiology, University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky USA. Position Summary: Our lab is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team focused on” investigating the mechanism of Vascular Cognitive Impairment (VCI) and bone loss following Ischemic Stroke and Alzheimer’s Disease”. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge research integrating epigenetics, inflammation, and neurovascular biology. Research Focus: The successful candidate will utilize advanced unbiased omics approaches—including RNA-Seq, and transcriptome—to identify and characterize genetic and epigenetic alterations that contribute to the relationship between proinflammatory signaling and ischemic brain injury. Functional validation will involve both in vitro and in vivo models (middle cerebral artery occlusion), including brain endothelial/microglial cell lines and patient-derived organoids (PDOs). Responsibilities: • Expert in micro-surgery in mouse model (middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and TBI • Design and conduct experiments using high-throughput sequencing and single-cell technologies. • Perform molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, Western blotting, immunostaining). • Analyze transcriptomic, epigenomic, and proteomic data using bioinformatics tools. • Conduct experiments in rodent models(mouse) and cell cultures. • Draft manuscripts for publication and prepare presentations for scientific meetings. • Assist in training and mentoring lab members, including graduate and undergraduate students, research interns, and technicians. • Collaborate with other lab members to integrate data across multiple platforms. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date experimental records. Minimum Requirements: • MD/Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, such as Neuroscience and bone biology or a related field. • Extensive hands-on experience in surgery, molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology techniques. • Proficiency in using animal models, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and vitro bioassays. • Strong skills in experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting. • Ability to communicate research findings effectively in written and oral formats. Preferred Qualifications: • Extensive knowledge and expertise in bulk/single-cell RNA sequencing and bioinformatics. Competencies: • Project planning and execution. • Manuscript preparation of research findings. • Statistical analysis, data interpretation and trouble shooting. • Organized – manages time effectively, keeps tasks appropriately prioritized. • Critical Thinking – ability to think through issues and identify appropriate options. • Work Ethic – motivated, diligent, industrious, and persistent in the workplace, stays on tasks to completion, works at a pace sufficient to ensure optimal efficiency. • Interpersonal – can build effective, strong working relationships with employees, colleagues, management and vendors through trust, communication, and credibility. • Teamwork – ability to work with others
