Special software is required to use some of the files in this section: .zip and .tar.

MATLAB®

MATLAB® Primer: An introduction to basic MATLAB® use, written for MATLAB® 5 (1999).

MATLAB® Tutorial and Guide from Prof. Beers' course 10.34 Numerical Methods Applied to Chemical Engineering.

Monte Carlo Simulations

Percolation Demo Applet: JavaTM applet simulating percolation by the Leath algorithm, by G. Reents.

Simple Monte Carlo Demos (ZIP) (This ZIP file contains: montecarlo_demos.tar) (Courtesy of Robert W. Sumner.)
This tar file contains the source code for various demos of percolation, random walks, DLA and DLA on percolation clusters, some of which were shown in lecture. To unpack the files on Linux®/UNIX®: 'tar xvf demos.tar'. The readme.txt file gives directions on how to compile and run the programs, which are written in C++ and use the glut library for graphics.
