  • Description:
  • The new Program in Public Health (PPH) at Michigan State University (MSU) is a result of the collaborative efforts of the Colleges of Human Medicine, Nursing, Osteopathic Medicine, and Social Science with additional support from International Studies and Programs and The Graduate School at MSU.

MSU has a strong combination of academic expertise in health-related disciplines with a well-established mechanism for outreach from its origins as a land-grant university. In support of the land-grant mission, the PPH will focus on making public health education and training available throughout the state with a variety of teaching strategies. Information on the educational offerings is available here.

Goals have been established for the program in three key areas: education, service and outreach, and research.

Educational: Provide students with knowledge about the field of public health as well as the skills necessary to become effective public health professionals.

Service and Outreach: Provide students leadership and service skills to enhance population health at local, state, national, or international levels.

Research: Provide students skills to identify evidence-based health research findings and translate them into public health policy and practice.
