College students rally for education funding

The amount of college debt was scrawled onto yellow balloons as hundreds of students Thursday marched to the state Capitol, advocating for more funding for higher education.

The crowds chanted, whistled and pumped their fists in the air while they faced the marble building with signs that read “Education is a right not a privilege” and “Stay on track. Don’t go back.”

“No cuts! No fees! Education should be free!,” students from more than two dozen colleges and universities chanted.
