Free year of college: Legislator promotes 'Challenge Scholarship'

High school students may be able to get one year of college free if the proposed "Challenge Scholarship" gains support.

State Rep. Mike Boland, D-Moline, went to Southwestern Illinois College Wednesday to discuss his proposed legislation for the "Challenge Scholarship."

To receive this scholarship, high school students would have to: Avoid drugs, alcohol abuse, suspension, arrest, and to maintain a "C" average throughout high school.
