Apollo Gains As University Of Phoenix Recertified By DOE

Shares of Apollo Group Inc. (APOL) rose more than 8% after the higher-education company said it was notified that the U.S. Department of Education recertified its largest unit to participate in Title IV programs.

The Department of Education recertified Apollo's University of Phoenix, continuing the school's participation in student financial aid programs under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. The move extends the University of Phoenix's certification from a temporary basis.
