Editorial: Putting together pieces of a college degree

A unique idea to help people finish their college degrees is being discussed by universities in Midwestern states.

Thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, colleges in the Midwestern Higher Education Compact will look at the creation of a central location where people would “store” the college credits they have earned from multiple institutions. Colleges and universities then essentially would bid for the opportunity to enroll students for the completion of their degrees.
