The ball sailed over the crossbar and into the mist that had enveloped the NCAA men's soccer championship game Sunday, the third failed penalty kick in five attempts by Akron after 110 minutes of scoreless soccer.

Virginia goalkeeper Diego Restrepo didn't react.

"I didn't think it was over," he said. "I thought we had to kick again. I just saw everyone running and was like, 'Oh, wow!' "
