UW's Emmert to take over NCAA presidency

University of Washington President Mark Emmert will become the new president of the NCAA.

The NCAA Executive Committee made the announcement Tuesday. He will be the fifth president of the collegiate athletic organization.

"It is certainly an honor and a distinction to be in this position," Emmert said at a Tuesday news conference.

He became the university's 30th president in June 2004. In 2009, his $906,500 in total annual compensation made him the second-highest paid public university president....
