If you have any interest in education in either South Dakota or Nebraska, these are fascinating times, to say the least.

In both states, overall funding issues are an ongoing and all-consuming headaches, and since educating our children is essential to the survival of any culture, these concerns can be worrisome.

Let’s start here in South Dakota, where the state has decided to accept more than $26.3 million in federal money that is earmarked for education. It’s part of a $10 billion program....
