During World War II, Dr. Josef Mengele operated on twins in the Nazi death camp Auschwitz -- often in experiments that had no scientific rationale.

Doctors in the Tuskegee Experiments gave no medical treatment to poor African-Americans with syphilis in a experiment that lasted 40 years, from 1932 to 1972.

This month, the Homestead campus of Miami Dade College will discuss how these cases have shaped today's medical ethics.
