University of Pittsburgh discovers that in college sports, character does matter

Whenever a guy like Nick Saban or Jim Calhoun wins a national championship, sports fans tend to come away with the impression that quality of character is an idealistic luxury in a college coach.

Some of the winningest college coaches throw chairs, send in "goons," and look the other way when agents bribe recruits, so ultimately it may seem as though a crook is simply someone smart enough to game the system.
