University mergers a hard sell

Near Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans, two public universities sit on opposite sides of Leon C. Simon Drive. On the north side of the street is the University of New Orleans, a large research university. A few blocks away on the south side of the street is Southern University at New Orleans, one of four publicly funded historically black universities in Louisiana.
