Bubba Cunningham named University of North Carolina athletic director

North Carolina ended a two-month search for a new leader for its athletic program Friday by naming Lawrence "Bubba" Cunningham to replace longtime director Dick Baddour.

Cunningham, who has headed the athletic department at the University of Tulsa since 2005, was unanimously approved by the UNC Board of Trustees during a conference call Friday morning. He was then introduced at a press conference at the Smith Center by Chancellor Holden Thorp. Cunningham is the seventh athletic director in UNC....
