Area college report: KC Titlefest is a feast of championships

Popularity is growing nationally for bundled NCAA championships, where one city serves as a host for multiple events, resembling an Olympics.

But Jim Johnson, commissioner of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, thinks Kansas City is the first destination at the conference level.

The MIAA spring sports version of “Titlefest” begins Monday with the men’s and women’s golf tournaments at Shoal Creek.
