University of Iowa's Sally Mason disowns Bloom's article about Iowa

Fallout from University of Iowa professor Stephen Bloom’s scathing Atlantic magazine piece on 20 years of life in Iowa continued Thursday with the university’s president, Sally Mason, sending an open letter to the publication distancing herself from the article.

Mason, who has lived in Iowa since 2007, wrote that she “was offended by Professor Bloom’s portrayal of Iowa and Iowans.”

“Please know that he does not speak for the University of Iowa,” Mason wrote in a piece published at TheAtlantic.com.
