University of Iowa fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon shut down over hazing

Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s national headquarters has closed its 107-year-old chapter at the University of Iowa, one of the longest-standing fraternities at UI, because of hazing.

The national organization said in a news release Monday that it has suspended the charter of its Iowa Beta chapter and expelled its members from the fraternity for failure to comply with its governing laws.
