Study: Degree holders earn $26K more than high school grads on average

New numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau show a wide gap in average pay between Americans who earn high school diplomas and those who go on to earn college degrees.

The study showed workers with bachelor’s degrees earned about $26,000 more on average than workers with high school diplomas. The data also show 87 percent of Americans 25 or older had completed high school and 29 percent had bachelor’s degrees. In 1998, 83 percent had completed high school and 24 percent had bachelor’s degrees.
