EDITORIAL: The Lege: Governor's security costs kept secret; tuition relief

The Texas Department of Public Safety and a San Antonio state senator have teamed up to try to keep secret how much taxpayer money is spent protecting the governor, all in the name of security. We find the argument ludicrous and hope the House will reject state Sen. Jeff Wentworth's measure, which has already passed the Senate.

Newspapers have battled for years to obtain such records. A lawsuit filed by Cox Texas Newspapers, owner of this newspaper, and Hearst Newspapers is before the 3rd Court....
