Spring Fling Gives Way to Fear and Silence on Connecticut Campus

In the slowly warming period that falls between Spring Fling on Wednesday and the beginning of final exams on Monday, Foss Hill at Wesleyan University is typically thronged with students, reading, tossing Frisbees or simply lying about to take in a bit of the early May sun.

On Thursday, however, the sloping greensward was all but abandoned. It was as still and quiet as a snapshot of itself: an expanse of empty grass.
